Jamie Henderson has officially ended a five-year association with the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League champion Soo Thunderbirds.

Henderson confirmed his resignation as Thunderbirds general manager earlier today.

“With the team being sold to a new group (The Tech 1921 Ltd.) recently I have decided it would be a good time to ‎step aside,” said Henderson. “I am proud to leave with this organization in good hands and as one of the most-respected junior A teams in Canada.”

Prior to take over as GM of the Thunderbirds this season, Henderson spent the previous two years as assistant general manager. He also had an earlier two-year stint with the T-Birds as an assistant coach.

As the Thunderbirds move forward under the command of The Tech 1921 Ltd., Denny Lambert will be in charge as director of hockey operations. Lambert is a former Ontario Hockey League player and coach with the Soo Greyhounds who went on to play in more than 500 National Hockey League games as a hard-nosed left winger.
