Matt Pinder is returning home to Sault Ste. Marie to continue his junior hockey career, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

Pinder, a 1995 birth-year forward, has been acquired by Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League from Cambridge Winter Hawks of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League for cash considerations.

Pinder had 18 goals, 24 assists, 42 points in 48 regular-season games with Cambridge in 2013-2014.

Prior to heading south to play for Cambridge last fall, Pinder skated for the old Soo North Stars of the Great North Midget Hockey League for three seasons.

What you think about “Soo Thunderbirds add hometown forward”

  1. I remember him well from the North Stars , strong player, very smart . Great addition for the Birds .

    1. had the pleasure of watching this young man from a very young age, an absolutely incredibly, naturally athletic kid. Only question mark is his desire, or simply,”does he want to play that shift”. When he does, not a more talented player anywhere near here.
