Thunderbirds are no. 1
Soo Thunderbirds secured the no. 1 seed in the upcoming Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoffs with an 8-1 cuffing of the North Bay Trappers on Friday at the Essar Centre.
The win improves the Soo’s record to 46-5-3, good for 95 points, with two games still to play in the 2013-2014 regular season.
Come the first-round of the playoffs, the Thunderbirds will meet the eighth-seed Blind River Beavers.
The NOJHL playoffs are scheduled to begin during the week of March 10.
