T-Birds blank Gold Miners
Brian Kment blocked 22 shots to backstop the visiting Soo Thunderbirds to a 4-0 blanking of the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League action from Friday.
Rookie forward Boris Katchouk scored twice and seasoned skaters Nic Tassone and Jaren Bellini tallied once apiece for the Thunderbirds, who moved into a first-place tie with Kirkland Lake.
The Soo has two games in hand on Kirkland Lake.
Another rookie forward, Nic Sicoly, contributed three assists to the T-Bird triumph.
