T-Birds go two up on Elliot Lake
Four first-period goals lifted the visiting Soo Thunderbirds to a 5-2 win over the Elliot Lake Wildcats on Saturday in Game 2 of their Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League semi-final series.
The Thunderbirds now lead the best-of-seven set 2-0 heading into Game 3 on Monday at 7:30 at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
Rookie Matt Caruso — with his league-leading 12th goal of the playoffs — Joey Miller, Boris Katchouk, Nic Tassone and Brett Jeffries scored the Soo goals.
Spencer MacLean and Nathan Campbell replied for Elliot Lake.
