T-Birds in DHC final tonight
Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League will face off against the host Fort Frances Lakers of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League tonight for the Dudley-Hewitt Cup, Central Canada Championship.
Fort Frances won its way into tonight’s title tilt by upsetting the defending DHC champion Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League 6-4 in Friday’s semi-final.
The Thunderbirds had earned an automatic bye into tonight’s final by virtue of finishing in first place in the four-team round-robin with a record of 2-0-1.
In the round-robin meeting between the Soo and Fort Frances, the NOJHL champion Thunderbirds skated to a 6-3 decision.
