T-Birds tumble to 2-2

The expansion Elliot Lake Wildcats won their fifth consecutive game on Sunday as they defeated the Soo Thunderbirds 5-2 in Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League action at John Rhodes Community Centre.

With the win, Elliot Lake improves its record to 5-1 while the Soo falls to 2-2.

Adam Baxter with a pair, Spencer MacLean, Shane Woolsey and David Chiarelli scored for Elliot Lake while Nic Tassone and Nic Sicoly replied for the Soo.

The Thunderbirds out-shot the Wildcats 30-25 with A.J. Smith making 28 saves in the Elliot Lake net.

The Thunderbirds are back in action on Tuesday when they play host to the Blind River Beavers in a 7:30 p.m. start at the Rhodes Centre.

  1. i just red Coach Jordan’s Smith’s comments in the Sault Star about the Thunderbirds re: last nites game. He uses words “disgusted” and “sick to my stomach” to describe his teams performance.
