T-Birds down two assistants
As the back-to-back Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League champion Soo Thunderbirds transition to new operators during the off-season, a second assistant coach has moved on to become a head coach elsewhere.
As HockeyNewsNorth.com confirmed on Wednesday, Jeremy Rebek will be leaving the Thunderbirds to become the head coach of the major midget Soo Indians of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.
Earlier, Kyle Brick, who was an assistant alongside Rebek the past two championship seasons, departed the Thunderbirds to take over as bench boss of the NOJHL’s Blind River Beavers.
More changes could be in store for the Thunderbirds, whose operations have been taken over by The Tech 1921 Ltd. Former Ontario Hockey League player and coach and erstwhile National Hockey League journeyman forward Denny Lambert has been hired by The Tech as its full-time director of hockey operations.
Best of luck Jeremy!!
congrats Jeremy
