T-Birds all over Kirkland Lake
Soo Thunderbirds have opened up a two games to none lead on the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the best-of-seven Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League championship series.
Playing at home on Friday and Saturday nights, the Thunderbirds posted 3-0 and 3-1 victories and both scores flattered the visiting Gold Miners.
The Soo out-shot Kirkland Lake 42-11 in Game 1 and 50-19 in Game 2 for a two-game total of 92-30.
The defending champion Thunderbirds now have a playoff record of 10-1 this season. Earlier, they disposed of the Soo Eagles in four straight games and the Elliot Lake Wildcats in five in the West Division playdowns.
With the 2-0 series lead, the Thunderbirds head to Kirkland Lake for Games 3 and 4.

Bout what me expected. Birds were class of league – players through the coach.
Nice photo … too bad no beer at Soo ThunderBirds games. They are missing the boat by not selling beer … might bring in a few more Fans if they at least had one Beer Stand set up.
