The first-year operators of the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have finalized an arrangement to forward control of the not-for-profit franchise, a source with knowledge of the situation has told HockeyNewsNorth.com.

As per the case with any transfer in operation, the transaction has to be forwarded to NOJHL commissioner Robert Mazzuca and then approved by the league’s board of governors.

The tentative transfer would see operation of the Thunderbirds moved from The Tech 1921 Ltd. and remain local with a new board of directors led by the owner of Highland Ford.

The Tech 1921 Ltd. took over operation of the Thunderbirds from local businessman Albert Giommi and his group less than a year ago.

What you think about “Tentative transfer of T-Birds”

  1. Have to take my hat off to those soo people for stepping up. Hopefully one off these seasons fans will start to support this team.

  2. I enjoy the T-Birds brand of Hockey. I hope they stay in the Soo or move to Iroquois Falls. The Igloo has room.
