Game 2 in the first-round, best-of-seven, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoff series between Espanola Rivermen and Sudbury Nickel Barons will be played today.

Opening faceoff is 2 p.m. at Espanola Regional Recreational Complex.

Espanola took the series opener on Friday in front of 561 fans at the Regional Recreational Complex.

In that one, Corbin Bean netted two goals and an assist, Blake Peavey had three assists and Marc Terriault made 33 saves to lead the Rivermen past the Nickel Barons by a 6-3 score.

What you think about “This afternoon in Espanola”

  1. Was a great game……espanola jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back. I expect pretty much the same thing today, except I expect Sudbury to come out flying early on, hopefully another early goal by Espo will settle everything down. I would also like to see a little more discipline from both sides as there were 19 individual penalties handed out in the second. My prediction Sudbury is not used to playing this much hockey and will gas, Espanola in four!!!!
