Soo Thunderbirds and Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have reported three players signings as the start of the 2015-2016 regular season draws near.

The reigning champion Thunderbirds have inked 1998 birth-year forward Zach Senecal, who was a seventh-round pick of the Oshawa Generals at the 2014 Ontario Hockey League draft. The 6-foot, 175-pound local product had 20 goals in 33 games with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Great North Midget Hockey League in 2014-2015.

And the Voodoos have also stayed close to their home by signing Powassan native Charlie Giesler and Travis Miller of nearby Callander.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Giesler can play both forward and defence. He joins forward Tyler Peters as the second Powassan native on the Voodoos roster.

Miller will add depth to the Voodoos as a small, quick forward, according to Powassan general manager Chris Dawson.

  1. The Voodoo will be very happy with what Travis Miller will bring to the team. He’s quick small forward, that plays with an edge. He is a great young man on and off the ice. Great Signing
