Nolan Chartrand

Free agent goalie Nolan Chartrand has signed with the Soo Thunderbirds after being surprisingly released by the Elliot Lake Red Wings. Chartrand, who was one of four goalies in Elliot Lake, joins veteran Noah Zeppa and rookie Noah Metivier on the Soo net roster.

The 6-foot-4 Chartrand, who has a 2004 birth date, had a record of 4-7-0 with a 3.77 goals against average and .900 save percentage with Elliot Lake, which is in last place in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League with a record of 4-14-0. Thus, in contests in which Chartrand was not the goalie of record, Elliot Lake lost all seven games.

A 2020, seventh round, Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft pick of the Barrie Colts, Chartrand joins a Thunderbirds team that is in first place in the NOJHL’s West Division with a record of 12-2-3.
