Thunderbirds claim first place
Soo Thunderbirds scored two late third-period goals to pull out a 5-4 victory over the visiting Sudbury Nickel Barons in Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League action from Saturday.
With the win, the Thunderbirds clinched first-place overall in the NOJHL for the second successive season.
Joey Miller with a pair — including the last-minute, game-winner — Nic Tassone, Anthony Miller and Devin Shell scored for the Thunderbirds, who now have 80 points with three games to play in the regular season.
when does the post season start Mr. R ? I am getting excited for some playoff hockey to begin here in the Nickel City, scared for the boys though they gotta face them pesky Wildcats in rd. one. here’s hoping for an upset in round one for the boys ! Go Barons Go !
Barons Fan,
March 13 weekend, I believe.
Wildacts v. Barons has the makings of a good series.
I hope so ! thank you Sir !
I hope the Beavers organization contacts the league to decline their participation in the playoffs. Enough is enough.
I would have preferred a different playoff format. BR doesn’t deserve any more games.
I would prefer the top teams get a bye to rest/recuperate and meet the winner of 2 vs 3.
