Timmins and Soo are 2-2
The Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League championship series between the Timmins Rock and Soo Thunderbirds is now down to a best-of-three set.
Playing on the road on Monday, Timmins came through with a clutch 7-4 victory to even the best-of-seven series at two games apiece. The Rock rode a four-goal second period explosion to take a 5-2 lead into the final frame. And while the Thunderbirds did narrow the gap to 5-4, the Rock sealed the deal with a pair of empty net tallies.
Ethan Pool and Liam Wells paced the Timmins attack with a pair of goals and injured defenseman Brandon Rossetti not only toughed it out for the Rock but scored once and assisted on another.
Game 5 in the series is slated for Wednesday evening in Timmins and Game 6 is on the card for Sunday night back in the Soo.
