Timmins Rock is rocking on to the next round of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoffs. A goal by Mahingan Decontie with 20 seconds left in the first overtime frame led visiting Timmins to a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Cochrane Crunch tonight.

Thus, Timmins takes the best-of-three, preliminary-round playoff series in two straight games. No. 4 seed Timmins will now meet no. 1 seed Hearst Lumberjacks in a best-of-seven, East Division, semi-final set.

Despite the setback, Cochrane’s season is not over as the Crunch will play host to the Dudley-Hewitt Cup, Central Canada championship tournament that is slated for April 30 to May 4.

As the host entry, Cochrane will join the champions from the NOJHL, the Ontario Jr. Hockey League and the Superior International Jr. Hockey League at the four-team, Dudley-Hewitt Cup.
