Voodoos get a piece of the Rock
Powassan Voodoos added size and scoring — and got younger — in a recent Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League trade with the Timmins Rock.
In a one-for-one swap, the Voodoos obtained 6-foot-2, 192-pound forward Ryan Theriault from the Rock in exchange for 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward Nick Siracuse.
Theriault has a 1997 birth date and Siracuse was born in 1996.
Theriault scored 21 goals, 25 assists, 46 points with Timmins in 2015-2016.
Siracuse netted 12 goals, 23 assists, 35 points for Powassan last season.
Voodoos general manager Chris Dawson explained the trade from the Powassan end.
“It’s not easy giving up a quality player like Siracuse, we really wish him the best in Timmins,” Dawson began. “However, Theriault is the type of player we are looking for and he will definitely bring some more size to our offence in 2016-2017.”
