Twin brothers to T-Birds
Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have signed twin brothers Darian Pilon and Drake Pilon.
The 1998 birth-year forwards starred for the Batchewana Attack of the now-defunct Canadian International Hockey League in 2014-2015. Both had 18-goal seasons and racked up more than 100 penalty minutes apiece.
The Pilons recently returned home to Sault Ste. Marie following a tryout with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League.
“Drake and Darian are two players who we targeted this summer and who will bring a high level of compete to our team,” said Thunderbirds general manager Jamie Henderson. “They will make it difficult on opponents to play against them and are looking to come in and develop as players to reach the next level.”
As the Pilons signed on with the T-Birds, the defending NOJHL champs dealt 1997 birth-year defenceman Andrew Barbeau to the Chatham Maroons of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League in a cash exchange.
