The no. 1 ranked team in the Canadian Jr. Hockey League won its 24th straight game on Saturday night.
Playing on the road, Soo Thunderbirds cuffed Blind River Beavers 5-2 to improve to 42-4-2 on the season and with 86 points, remain atop the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League standings.
Captain Gavin Burbach, fellow 1993 birth-year forward Anthony Butorac and rookies Jaren Bellini and Medric Mercier all had two-point games for the Soo.
Burbach, Bellini and Mercier all had one-goal, one-assist outings while Butorac had a pair of helpers.
Anthony Miller and Brett Jeffries also scored goals for the Thunderbirds and Brian Kment made 32 saves.
