Three seasoned skaters who suited up for the Sudbury U18 Wolves of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League in ’23-24 have signed with the Espanola Paper Kings of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League ahead of the ’24-25 season.

They are defenseman Carter Makasoff and forwards Carter Drigo and Cain Savage. All were affiliate players with Espanola in ’23-24. Makasoff and Drigo both have 2007 birth dates while Savage was born in 2006.

Makasaoff had three goals, seven assists, 10 points in 35 games for the U18 Wolves from his defense position in ’23-24. Drigo, meanwhile, was a prolific performer for the U18 Wolves in ’23-24 with 17 goals, 24 assists, 41 points in 41 games. As for Savage, he totalled four goals, six assists, 10 points in 34 games.

Paper Kings general manager Marc Gagnon is quite familiar with the troika.

“We are happy to have signed three of last year’s APs. All three demonstrated during their call ups that they can play and contribute. All three had great spring camps with us and made our decision really easy in signing them,” Gagnon relayed to Hockey News North. “Makasoff has been an AP for two years and has developed and grown significantly while earning a well deserved roster spot. Savage is a power forward that Jason (Rapcewicz) our coach loves his style of play. Drigo had a really good camp. He impressed the staff and earned a spot.”
