Beavers ride Uhl tide
Sault Ste. Marie product Jason Uhl had a three-point night on Wednesday as the Blind River Beavers — who went winless during the 2014-2015 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season — skated to their second victory of the 2015-2016 campaign.
Playing on the road, the Beavers upended the French River Rapids 5-3 to boost their record to 2-4-1.
Uhl, a 1997 birth-year forward who began the 2014-2015 season with the Batchewana Attack of the now-defunct Canadian International Hockey League before finishing up playing at the high school level in the Soo for the St. Mary’s Knights, sparked Blind River to its Wednesday win over French River with a goal and two assists.
The smooth-skating Uhl now has 3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points in 7 games for Blind River thus far this season.
Regular season and playoffs included, Blind River had a record of 0-55-1 as part of a disastrous 2014-2015 term.
