Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League held their spring prospects camp at nearby Memorial Gardens in North Bay over the weekend.

More than 30 players from across Ontario participated in the two-day camp.

Voodoos head coach Scott Wray was pleased with the turnout and the level of competition.

“We had some really good young talent from the 2000 age group to the 1998 group,” said Wray. “It was nice to see some really good young players from the north and even the Toronto area.”

Voodoos general manager Chris Dawson was likewise impressed.

“We had a lot of positive feedback from parents and players about the camp,” said Dawson.

“Many will be invited to our mid-summer camp and our main camp in late August,” continued Dawson. “While we are only moving on four 20-year-olds we know there are some spots to fill and camps like this are a key building block for the future of our program.”

Powassan is coming off a 2015-2016 season in which the Voodoos finished in third place overall in the 12-team NOJHL.

The Voodoos are an affiliate team of the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.
