Powassan Voodoos did not have to venture far to confirm their first new player signing preparatory to the 2016-2017 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season.

Powassan has inked 2000 birth-year defenceman Tye Lindeman, who is not only from nearby North Bay but a 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Battalion.

The NOJHL Voodoos are an affiliate team of the OHL Battalion and the two organizations maintain a close working relationship.

Lindeman, who played at the major midget level for the North Bay Trappers in 2015-2016, carries a reputation as a player with a strong work ethic and excellent compete level, according to Powassan coach Scott Wray.
