There are four teams ahead of them in the overall standings but the Elliot Lake Wildcats are in good position heading into a pair of weekend home games.

The Wildcats take a tidy record of 3-1-2 into a home stand that brings the 0-6 French River Rapids into Elliot Lake tonight and the 1-6 Espanola Express into town on Sunday evening.

To be sure, the Wildcats have lost just once in regulation time this season, a 6-3 setback at the hands of the Rayside-Balfour Canadians.

Elliot Lake has also tasted defeat twice in overtime to the 6-0 Powassan Voodoos but the Wildcats get a point from each of those games.

Heading into play tonight, Elliot Lake with its eight points from the 3-1-2 record, trails the 7-1 Soo Thunderbirds, 6-0 Powassan, the 6-1 Cochrane Crunch and the 6-1 Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the overall standings of the 12-team, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
