Wins for Rock, Birds, Dogs

Timmins Rock, Soo Thunderbirds and Dryden Ice Dogs all came through on the winning end on Tuesday as playoffs continued in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League and Superior International Jr. Hockey League.

NOJHL

Timmins 5, Powassan 3. Under-rated forward Ethan Pool scored the winning goal at 14:30 of the third period to lift the visiting Rock to a four game sweep of the Voodoos and a spot in the NOJHL championship series.

Soo 4, Sudbury 3. Luck was on the side of the Thunderbirds, who took a 3-1 series lead over the visiting Cubs. The Thunderbirds tied the game on a Youssef Chaouachi goal at 19:17 of the third period and then won it on a fluke tally by Austin Fellinger at 1:59 of overtime.

SIJHL

Dryden 4, Thunder Bay 3. James Hooton put a pair of pucks in the net as the visiting Ice Dogs took a 2-1 series lead over the North Stars.
