67’s sign five fresh faces
Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League ushered in the summer solstice today by signing five draft picks from the 2015 and 2016 priority selections process.
67’s coach-general manager Jeff Brown announced that Ottawa had inked 2015 draft picks Kody Clark and Ben Evans, 2016 first-rounder Peter Stratis and both second-rounders from this year’s draft in Carter Robertson and Kevin Bahl.
“This is the future. And the future is bright,” said Brown, who is about to enter his third season with the 67’s and is methodically returning Ottawa to OHL contender status. “We’ve put ourselves in a solid position going forward.
“We’ve got guys with great hockey brains who are very competitive and great teammates,” Brown added. “These are character guys who are going to be a big part of our team this coming year and will be leading us in the future.”
From the 2015 draft class, Clark — the son of former Toronto Maple Leafs captain and National Hockey League icon Wendel Clark — is a right winger while Evans plays centre. Both have 1999 birth dates.
As for the 2016 selections that were signed, Stratis, Robertson and Bahl are all defensemen born in 2000.
