Maybe this is what the big kid needed to get going. Sault Ste. Marie product Nick Porco had a breakout game for the Barrie Colts on Thursday.

After being held to just one assist through his first six outings of the Ontario Hockey League season, the 6-foot-1, 185 pound, overage left winger fired two goals, added an assist, was a plus 3 and was named the game’s first star as the Colts cuffed the visiting Sudbury Wolves 7-3.

Porco now has two goals, two assists, four points and is a plus 4 in seven games.

Barrie, which has struggled somewhat to begin the 2021-2022 OHL season after being pegged as an Eastern Conference contender, now has a record of 3-4-1 ahead of two more games this weekend.

Sudbury, meanwhile, continued its sluggish play and now has a record of 3-5-1 under first year head coach Craig Duncanson.
