Blade catches the Spirit
The press keeps rolling on what has been a very good news week for the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.
A day after signing 2017 first-round draft pick Nick Porco, Saginaw general manager Dave Drinkill has confirmed that 2016 first-round selection Blade Jenkins has committed to the Spirit for the 2017-2018 season.
The Michigan-born Jenkins will formally sign with Saginaw on Thursday afternoon, said Drinkill.
Jenkins spent the 2016-2017 season with the U.S. National Team Development Program.
The addition of the two young forwards — Jenkins was born in 2000 and Porco has a 2001 birth date — adds on to what is already a promising group of players in Saginaw.
