Camaryn Baber, a 2001 birth-year forward with the Soo Greyhounds of the Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League’s major bantam division, is showing some of his father’s ability as a player.

Baber led the Greyhound major bantams in scoring during the 2015-2016 NOHL regular season with 25 goals, 38 assists, 63 points in 27 games. According to the NOHL stats page, Baber’s points total tied him for the league scoring lead.

The youngster is the son of Brad Baber, who spent his entire four-year Ontario Hockey League playing career with the hometown Soo Greyhounds.

Regular-season and playoffs included, Baber — a dependable right winger and team leader — played in 252 OHL games for the Greyhounds, scoring 59 goals, 122 assists, 181 points.

The elder Baber was part of the Greyhounds 1993 Memorial Cup championship club and later became captain of the team.

What you think about “Brad Baber’s boy a scoring leader”

    1. Could be, as Camaryn’s grandfather Brian (Brad’s dad) was an exceptional Soo Greyhound forward during their NOHA junior days.

  1. Cam is a fearless leader and a great kid who has a solid work ethic at both ends of the ice. He is an unselfish playmaker with a scoring touch that is fun to watch.

  2. Proud Auntie here. Thank you for the article and positive comments for Cam. All these players work so hard on and off the ice.

  3. He’s an amazing young man and we can only wish him the best in his future hockey endeavours. I’m hoping yes on the future third generation Greyhound. ❤️❤️

  4. Camaryn also has hockey blood on Brad’s mother’s side of the family as his uncle Leroy LaFleur played for the Greyhounds of the NOHA with the likes of Tony Esposito just prior to Camaryn’s grandfather Brian. His uncle Brian LaFleur also played with the Greyhounds in the late 60’s before going on to RPI in New York State on a hockey scholarship. We are probably seeing the best of the bunch in Camaryn. Good luck kid.
