Capt. Carlisle of the Hounds
Overage defenseman Caeden Carlisle will wear the captain’s jersey for the Soo Greyhounds for the ’24-25 Ontario Hockey League season.
Originally a fifth round pick by the Red and White at the 2020 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, the 6 foot 1, 197 pound defender with a 2004 birth date is now in his fourth season with the Greyhounds. Carlisle is one of the more under rated defensemen in the Western Conference of the OHL.
Regular season and playoffs included over his three previous seasons with the Greyhounds, the ever improving Carlisle skated in an even 200 games. Known more as a stay at home defenseman, Carlisle showed a bit of an offensive touch in his first three OHL seasons with the Greyhounds, totalling 15 goals, 39 assists, 54 points in the 200 games.
Carlisle also has the experience of attending the National Hockey League rookie camp of the Pittsburgh Penguins this year.
Joining Carlisle as alternate captains for the Greyhounds this season are defenseman Andrew Gibson and forwards Justin Cloutier, Marco Mignosa and Brady Martin. Gibson, Cloutier and Mignosa all have 2005 birth dates while Martin is the youngster of the leadership group with a 2007 birth date.
A towering , all around defenseman, Gibson has NHL ties as a signed prospect of the Nashville Predators. Cloutier and Martin are both former first round draft picks by the Greyhounds.
