George is the top OHL goalie
Five goalies from the Ontario Hockey League have made the mid season rankings list of the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting Bureau ahead of the June 28-29 NHL Entry Draft. And at the top of the chart is Carter George of the Owen Sound Attack, a Thunder Bay product who has Sault Ste. Marie roots from his mother’s side.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound George, who has a 2006 birth date, was taken by Owen Sound in the third round of the 2022 OHL priority selections draft from the Thunder Bay Kings AAA program. He is in his second OHL season with Owen Sound.
While he is from Thunder Bay, George has deep roots to Sault Ste. Marie as the grandson of legendary local curler Tom Coulterman and the son of Tara Coulterman-George, who is no curling slouch herself.
After being a rock star on the Sault Ste. Marie curling scene as a youngster, Tara continued to excel at the sport after moving to Thunder Bay with her husband to raise a family. Tara played third stones for four of skip Krista McCarville’s Ontario women’s curling championships. Tara was also with McCarville’s Northern Ontario rink out of Thunder Bay that won bronze at the 2009 Olympic Trials and bronze at the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
His dad “Mike George” also played for the Elliot Lake Vikings and Espanola Screaming Eagles of the NOJHL.
great info, thanks!
