Chitaroni a top OHL pick

Northern boy Brock Chitaroni has become the property of the Ottawa 67’s who took the skilled centre in the first round, third overall, of the 2025 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.

Chitaroni, who was born in the northwestern Ontario town of Marathon, moved to Sault Ste. Marie with his family at a young age and played a lot of minor hockey in the Soo before relocating to Barrie to play at the AAA level for the Colts in each of the ’23-24 and ’24-25 seasons. In 39 league games for Barrie this Ontario Minor Hockley League season, Chitaroni had 36 goals, 41 assists, 77 points.

With a 2009 birth date and a solid 5 foot 11, 170 pounds, Chitaroni has also seen action for the Sudbury Cubs as an affiliate player during the current Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoffs and has a goal in three games.

The youngster comes from a hockey playing family, including older brothers Mason and Hudson and their dad, Terry Chitaroni.

Mason, a 2004 birth year defenseman, is winding down his junior hockey career as an impact player with the aforementioned Sudbury Cubs of the NOJHL after playing parts of two seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Jr. Hockey League. And Hudson, a 2007 birth year forward, is coming off of a rookie OHL season with the Sudbury Wolves after starring with the NOJHL Cubs a year ago. As for Terry, the dad, the elder Chitaroni is a former OHL standout forward with Sudbury, who played for the Wolves — and captained them — from 1988 to 1992.
