It is now official. Ted Dent will carry on as both general manager and coach of the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.

Dent had been doing GM duties on an interim basis since March while also serving as head coach of the Firebirds.

“Ted has been an integral part in helping to build a winning culture here in Flint this past season,” relayed Firebirds owner Rolf Nilsen. “We look forward to another great year with Ted leading our hockey operations.”

In his first season in Flint, Dent steered the Firebirds to their best performance in franchise history by setting new highs for wins with 42 and points with 89. Flint then ousted the Owen Sound Attack and the Soo Greyhounds during the playoffs before losing to the Windsor Spitfires in Game 7 of the Western Conference championship series.
