A weekend-oriented, 2017-2018 regular season schedule. Not only that, there will be multiple $2 beer and $2 hot dog nights.

To be sure, Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League have what can be called a fan friendly slate for the upcoming season.

For starters, no less than 28 of the Firebirds 34 regular-season home games are slated for either weekend or holiday dates at the newly-renovated Dort Federal Event Center in Flint.

Also included in the Firebirds 2017-2018 home schedule are eight “College Nights” featuring $2 beers and $2 hot dogs.

Firebirds president Costa Papista has considerable excitement pertaining to the home schedule.

“We will play the vast majority of our home games on non-school nights, allowing us to accommodate families and younger fans,” Papista began.

“By design, our schedule avoids the majority of high school football Friday night games in the fall,” Papista continued. “Mid Michigan has embraced our Saturdays as hockey night in Flint and Genesee County and we are thrilled to have 16 Saturday nights on the schedule.”

Season ticket packages for the Firebirds 2017-2018 season are on sale and can be purchased at the Dort Federal Event Center box office, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
