Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League earlier this week finalized two more positions on their staff.

The new-look Firebirds confirmed that Stan Matwijiw will return as goalie coach and that Scott MacDonald is on board as assistant coach/video coordinator.

The 2016-2017 season will mark Matwijiw’s ninth year as an OHL goalie coach, having spent previous time with the Firebirds predecessors, the Plymouth Whalers. MacDonald also had a prior gig with Plymouth as video coordinator.

Earlier this off-season, the Firebirds hired long-time OHL coach and executive George Burnett as general manager and promoted Ryan Oulahen from the North Bay Battalion to be their new bench boss. Oulahen had been an assistant coach in North Bay, learning the ropes from veteran Battalion coach-general manager Stan Butler.

Oulahen then brought in Eric Wellwood to be his associate coach. Wellwood had been an assistant coach with the Oshawa Generals.
