Flint Firebirds have parted ways with one of their top players ahead of the looming Ontario Hockey League trade deadline. The Firebirds have dealt overage forward Braeden Kressler and two draft picks to the Ottawa 67’s for five draft picks.

Kressler played in 33 games for the Firebirds this season and had 15 goals, 22 assists, 37 points. He ends his tenure in Flint with 54 goals, 69 assists, 123 points in 154 games.

“The high end draft picks we acquired in this deal will help us stockpile our roster for both the short term and the future,” relayed Firebirds general manager Dave McParlan.

The Firebirds are currently in a three-way race with the Sarnia Sting and Windsor Spitfires for the eighth and final playoff spot in the OHL’s Western Conference.
