Kingston Frontenacs general manager Doug Gilmour has confirmed finalization of an Ontario Hockey League trade with an Eastern Conference rival.

The Frontenacs have dealt 1995 birth-year forward Ryan Kujawinski and a sixth-round selection in 2017 to the North Bay Battalion in exchange for 1996 birth-year forward Jared Steege, the rights to 1996 birth-year defenceman Nathan Billitier and a conditional second-round selection in 2016.

Billitier played with the United States National Team Development Program before joining the Notre Dame Fighting Irish of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association this season. He will be leaving Notre Dame to join Kingston, according to Gilmour.

“It was a tough choice letting Ryan go, we wish him all the best,” said Gilmour. “Jared and Nathan bring depth to our lineup, we look forward to having both join us this weekend.”

Kujawinski, who hails from the northeastern Ontario town of Iroquois Falls, brings size to North Bay.

“He’s a big, strong forward with good skills,” said Battalion coach-director of hockey operations Stan Butler. “He upgrades our team.”

  1. I have been watching Ryan play since he was 8 or 9 years old. Big strong northern boy who will help the Troops. Good trade for the Troops.
