Goalie goes 1st to Spitfires
Windsor Spitfires added to their depth at the goalie position by taking Michael Newlove with the first overall pick at the 2024 Ontario Hockey League under 18 supplemental draft.
At 6 foot 1, 165 pounds with a 2007 birth date, Newlove tended twine for the Halton U18 Hurricanes during the 2023-2024 season.
Newlove’s selection by Windsor follows the recent OHL priority selections draft in which the Spitfires took a pair of 2008 birth year goalies — Jake Windbiel from the Chicago Mission in the seventh round and Sault Ste. Marie product Cam Ingram from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the 13th round.
