Guelph adds Carter Kucher
Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League has added depth and size to its defence corps. Originally a draft pick of the Flint Firebirds in 2024, Sault Ste. Marie product Carter Kucher has signed with Guelph as an affiliate player.
The 6 foot 4, 220 pound Kucher has spent most of the past two seasons with the Chatham Maroons of the Greater Ontario Hockey League. A stay at home defender, Kucher was a crowd favourite in Chatham.
Prior to moving up to the junior level in Chatham, Kucher — who has a mid December, 2008 birth date — played in the Greater Toronto Hockey League and with the AAA Under 18 Soo Indians of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.
Kucher, who has played in both of Guelph’s two regular season games to date, is expected to return to Chatham at some point, Storm general manager George Burnett told Hockey News North.
“With injuries and guys away (at pro camps) we are quite short. When we get our guys back and all healthy I expect (Kucher) to be in Chatham,” said Burnett.
