Garden River First Nation product Evan Headrick made his long awaited Ontario Hockey League debut for the Kitchener Rangers on New Year’s Eve. And what a baptism celebration it was.
The 5 foot 8, 150 pound right winger with a 2008 birth date made it a beginning to remember by scoring a goal in Kitchener’s 5-2 victory over the North Battalion.
Headrick, who Kitchener took in the first round (15th overall) at the 2024 OHL priority selections draft from the AAA Under 16 Oakville Rangers, had spent the previous four months rehabbing after suffering a broken arm in an OHL pre season game.
