Garden River First Nation product Evan Headrick has become the property of the Kitchener Rangers after being nabbed in the first round of the 2024 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.

The pint size forward has played the past two seasons with the Oakville Rangers AAA program. In 39 games — regular season and playoffs included — for Oakville in 2023-2024, Headrick produced 29 goals, 36 assists, 65 points.

OHL Central Scouting has described Headrick as “a player who plays way bigger then his actual size. He isn’t one who will shy away from anyone in a battle and more times than not he comes up with loose pucks. He uses his low center of gravity to protect the puck well and isn’t afraid to take the puck to the net. He has a very good skill set and is both a solid playmaker as well as a goal scorer. He has always been one of the better players because of how hard he works and competes in every shift.”
