Flint Firebirds have seized home-ice advantage from Soo Greyhounds with the opportunity to take control of the first-round, Ontario Hockey League playoff series.

If only it was that easy.

The Greyhounds won all three games they played in Flint during the 2016-2017 regular season en route to the best road record in the 20-team OHL.

Still, the no. 7 seed Firebirds showed what they were made of in Game 2 of the best-of-seven, Western Conference playoff set when they doubled up the no. 2 seed Greyhounds 6-3.

With the Hounds having taken Game 1 by a 5-2 margin, the series is thus tied 1-1.

Games 3 and 4 are slated for the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center in Flint tonight and Wednesday with opening face off at 7 p.m. for both contests.

Power play efficiency favoured Flint in Games 1 and 2 in the Soo. The Firebirds were 3 for 9 with the man advantage while the Greyhounds went 0 for 9.

Flint also scored a shorthanded goal in its 6-3, Game 2 triumph.

So, thus far, the Firebirds have gotten more from their special team units.
