Seeking a veteran defenseman prior to next week’s Ontario Hockey League trade deadline, Soo Greyhounds have done just that by obtaining 19-year old Noah Carroll from the Guelph Storm.

In getting Carroll — who is a National Hockey League draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes — the Greyhounds parted with 17-year old forward Liam Hawel, who was their first-round draft pick in 2016.

Future draft choices were also exchanged with the Soo getting a second-rounder in 2020 and third-rounders in 2017 and 2018 while sending a third-rounder to Guelph in 2021. The 2018 draft pick is conditional.
