Hounds light up the Knights

LONDON — Soo Greyhounds turned out the lights on the unbeaten heights of the London Knights before more than 9,000 fans here tonight at Budweiser Gardens.

The Greyhounds scored a resounding 8-2 victory over the Knights that ended London’s regulation time unbeaten streak at 23 games. Prior to tonight’s loss to the Greyhounds, the Knights had a record of 21-0-2 in their previous 23 outings.

Despite the setback, London still leads the Ontario Hockey League standings with 79 points from a record of 38-12-3. The Greyhounds are not far behind with 73 points from a record of 35-15-3.

Gavin Hayes, Andrew Gibson and Jack Beck were the offensive catalysts for the Greyhounds.

Hayes hit for two goals, giving him 31 on the season, including 12 in the 15 games that he has played for the Hounds since being obtained from the Flint Firebirds at the January 10 OHL trade deadline. Gibson also scored twice and added an assist. Beck, meanwhile tallied once and set up three others.
