They may have cancelled — or perhaps just postponed — the World Junior Championships but the Ontario Hockey League has returned to play in some venues, including Sault Ste. Marie.

Playing on the home ice of GFL Memorial Gardens before close to 2,500 fans on Wednesday, Soo Greyhounds overcame a three-goal deficit to score a 5-4 overtime win over the Sudbury Wolves.

The Greyhounds, who now have a record of 16-9-2, are slated to head into Michigan tonight for a match with the Saginaw Spirit. Saginaw posted a one-goal win of its own over arch-rival Flint Firebirds on Wednesday.

As some OHL teams have been cleared for a return to play following the Christmas holiday break, others remain in pause relative to COVID-19.
