Soo Greyhounds coach Drew Bannister talked to Gustav Bouramman via telephone today amid confirmation that the 1997 birth-year defenseman has been offered a contract to play pro hockey in his native Sweden for the 2016-2017 season.

And Bannister told HockeyNewsNorth.com that Bouramman is weighing the offer versus returning to the Greyhounds for a third Ontario Hockey League season.

“Basically what Goose told me is that he wants to take his time before making a decision,” said Bannister. “He also said that he has no issue whatsoever with the Greyhounds or the Soo. He just does not want to rush into making a decision.”

Bouramman was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round of the 2015 National Hockey League draft.

“I can tell you that Minnesota has said they would like to see Goose play another season with us,” Bannister noted.

In his two years with the Greyhounds, Bouramman has shown a strong offensive side from his blueline position with 13 goals, 90 assists, 103 points in 158 games, regular season and playoffs included.

What you think about “Latest on Gustav Bouramman”

  1. If the Swedish league is a “NO BODY CONTACT” league, then the Goose will love it.
Other than the fact that he has yet to throw a real body check in Canada, OR take one himself, OR block a shot, OR clear the front of his net, he really IS a talented player.
