NB Trappers to Mississauga
Defenseman Jake Gravelle, who starred with the North Bay Trappers of the Great North Midget Hockey League this past season, has signed with the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League.
The 2000 birth-year defender is coming off a splendid 2016-2017 season with North Bay after being selected by Mississauga in the 12th round of the 2016 OHL draft. Gravelle had 15 goals, 30 assists, 45 points in 36 regular-season games en route to being named the best defenseman in the Great North loop.
“Jake is a smooth skating defenseman with excellent hockey sense,” said Steelheads general manager James Boyd. “Jake has shown great improvement over the last two seasons. His competitive nature and passion for the game will help him to quickly transition to the OHL.”
