Windsor Spitfires are frantically chasing a playoff spot in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League in what is a rebuilding season. But while the Spitfires may be near the bottom of the OHL standings, a number of their players are being eyed by National Hockey League scouts.

In fact, no less than five Spitfires are on the current list of OHL players who have made the most recent rankings of the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau.

Leading the way is high scoring forward Liam Greentree followed by defenseman Anthony Cristoforo, forward A.J. Spellacy, defenseman Josef Eichler and forward Cole Davis.

Meanwhile, though not currently rated by NHL Central Scouting ahead of this year’s draft, three Spitfire defenseman are reportedly on the interest radar of at least one NHL team. They are Conor Walton, Carson Woodall and Tanner Winegard. Winegard, at 6-foot-6 and Walton at 6-foot-4, are especially intriguing because of their size.

What you think about “NHL scouts eyeing Spitfires”

  1. I always see posts about Tanner Winegard and wonder why there is never any mention of his father, Owen Lessard, who had a great OHL career and was drafted and signed by the Chicago Blackhawks??
