NHL scouts like four 67’s
Ottawa 67’s are one of the youngest teams in the Ontario Hockey League and four of their draft-eligible players have caught the eyes of the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting department.
NHL Central Scouting released its mid-term rankings earlier this week and three 1999 birth-year skaters and a 1998 birth-year goalie from the 67’s made the list.
Speedy forward Sasha Chmelevski and hulking, puck-moving defenceman Noel Hoefenmayer, ranked 38th and 41st respectively, are currently projected by the scouting service to be selected in the second round of this year’s NHL draft.
Another skilled forward, Austen Keating, is ranked 92nd and projected to be a third-round selection.
And 67’s goalie Olivier Lafreniere is ranked 27th among North American puck-stoppers.
