Flint Firebirds may have missed the Ontario Hockey League playoffs in 2015-2016 but their two 1999 birth-year players have both caught the attention of the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting department.

Defenseman Samuel Duchesne and goalie Kyle Keyser of the Firebirds have been tabbed by NHL Central Scouting as players to watch for the 2016-2017 season preparatory to the 2017 NHL draft.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Duchesne had 1 goal, 7 assists, 8 points in 53 games with Flint in 2015-2016.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Keyser had a 4-10 record with a 4.37 goals against average and .880 save percentage in 17 games with the Firebirds last season.

Both players were taken by Flint in the fourth round of the 2015 OHL draft.
